James Van Doren

associate director, marketing & digital engagement

James has dedicated over 20 years to understanding how to support organizations in a way that elevates their strengths and helps them communicate and live their values, while growing their market. James is investing his talents fully at the telos institute as the associate director of marketing and digital engagement. Bringing to bear his background in sales, strategy, leadership development, marketing, design, and social media management, James is growing telos’ brand footprint and helping to share telos’s unique and compelling value proposition.


Previously, he’s spent time in a variety of roles supporting or consulting for companies like the Ritz-Carlton, GE Capital, SunMicrosystems, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and others.  James has a broad background of delivering on diverse projects for a wide array of industries, which allows him to quickly assess the landscape, contribute solutions, and execute.


James earned his BA in Psychology from CWRU. He’s trained in Emotional Intelligence, Appreciative Inquiry, and other leadership competencies. He’s taught Kung Fu since 2003 and has continued to compete at the national and international level. In 2015 he traveled to Rome, Italy as an assistant coach for the USA Shuai Chiao (Chinese grappling) team. There, he was proud to see the US team of take 1st place for the first time in over 30 years.


Transitioning from his original role as associate director, client relationships at telos, James hopes to ensure our values, capabilities, and growth opportunities are fully realized – and shared. His goal, as always, is to bring great value for our partners and clients alike, in a way that ensures we’re all operating at the highest peaks of our potential.
